About the artist
Jane first discovered pottery whilst in art classes at school and then later studied textile design at university. This passion for creativity led her to become a teacher, specialising in Design and Technology which she taught for 25 years.
During this time, Jane discovered a local potter who was available for lessons, subsequently igniting her fascination for clay. Fast forward a few years, she secured her Masters in Ceramics at Sunderland University whilst still teaching full time, this milestone spurred her on to retire early and concentrate fully on her ceramics.
With a focus on making functional pieces she concentrates on the simplicity of form, texture and colour, whilst considering sustainably sourced materials from ethical sources. Reclaimed wood is dried out over a number of years and subsequently used to become boat hulls or pot lids, in addition, she always uses soy wax in her candles as its is non-toxic and burns cleanly.
Jane has a keen interest in environmental issues and the renewablilty of the world around us. She ensures that all of her packaging is sustainable and recyclable, where possible sourced from the UK, to find out more about this head to our sustainability page.
